Epiphyllum Society of America

The Epiphyllum Society of America's 65th Anniversary

You are cordially invited to attend The Epiphyllum Society of America's 65th Anniversary Holiday luncheon at the Taix French Restaurant, Los Angeles, Sunday, December 4, 2005 at 11:30 AM. This historical, landmark celebration is a culmination of collecting photographs, video conversations, and epi memorabilia, and sharing the contents of the ESA Archives which will be displayed, as much as space will allow at the party. It will be a combination of your high school reunion and epi convention all rolled into one. Get reacquainted with old friends you have not seen for a while and reminisce about members who forged the trail for ESA.

We will have guest speakers, hand out special awards, offer door prizes, a silent auction of rare epi cuttings and plants, garden related and Christmas gifts, so bring your check book. There will also be a gift exchange for those who wish to take part. Bring an epi plant or a wrapped garden related gift, valued around $10.00. Prizes for longest distance traveled and oldest member/former member attending. This is your anniversary celebration and if you are not able to travel to Los Angeles, everyone is still able to participate by sending us a photo(s) of your epiphyllum garden, 4x6 or 5x7, maximum of 3 photos per person. Moreover, we hope you would be part of the photo, whether you have 3 epies at your balcony or 300 in your estate. Please print your name, date of photo, and your address. We will be compiling a photo album from around the USA, around the world, exhibiting it at the party. You will be there in spirit.

For members who might have transportation issues, and would like to come to the event, let us know. Perhaps, we can find members to car pool.

Furthermore, we are asking our friends and members if they would like to donate/loan treasured photos or slides for our archives. Books, epi articles, old nursery catalogues, letters, anything epi related. We will credit you with "65th Anniversary Donation by Mr. & Mrs. John Smith," or "On Loan, Courtesy of Mrs. Violet Summers." We thank you in advance.

As a major part of this celebration, we will be doing "video/audio
conversations" with:
1. Hybridizers who have registered with the ESA directory.
2. Nurseries that sell/sold epiphyllums.
3. Long time epi collectors, 20 years minimum.

In their own words, everyone has a story to share, we want to have a permanent record of your valuable experience, so that it's not "lost" in time, and preserve for current and future members of ESA. This is going to be an ongoing project. We know we won't be able to get to everyone. Please be understanding and be patience. If you fit in this category, let us know. We will try to contact you, if not this year, it will be next year. Please get the word out to any former ESA members or longtime collectors.

Our website is open: epiphyllumsociety.org which will be updated with the latest anniversary news. Please contact Jim Nones, 818.242.5483, or jjan21@hotmail.com, for any questions you may have.

THANK YOU!!!
